Auto-Organization is a biological process in human organisms, a process that increases their capacity to process information automatically. OI is primarily used by therapists, coaches, and other helping professionals to promote their clients’ well-being. It is also used as a do-it-yourself practice for improving one’s own well-being.Part 1 introduces the four most fundamental concepts of OI: Auto-Organization, organic intensity threshold, Orientation, and pleasure. Most attention is given to Orientation, because it is the most important concept for practical application. Relatively little attention is given to pleasure, even though it is the second most important concept for practice. The common sense understanding of pleasure that most people already have is enough for them to go on. A second reason I give less attention to pleasure is to dramatically emphasize Orientation.
