    1 oz Gold Philharmonic Design

The Austrian Mint released the first 1 oz Gold Philharmonic coin in 1989 in .9999 fine Gold. The coin's design celebrates Austria's musical heritage and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Designed by Thomas Pesendorfer , the design has remained the same since the coin's introduction. The denomination changed from schillings to Euros in 2002. The coin's obverse features a design of the famous pipe organ from the Musikverein Golden Hall. The text, " REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH" (Republic of Austria) is also featured on the obverse. The reverse design features several musical instruments - violins, a cello, bassoon, Vienna horn, and a harp.
